SRM- International Mountain Section Summer Tour

The International Mountain Section of SRM welcomes the public and SRM members to attend their 2019 Summer Tour. The tour will take place in Havre, MT where attendees will visit the Northern Agriculture Research Center, Thackery Ranch, Mooney Coulee, and Beaver Creek Park in the Bears Paw Mountains.

Summer Tour Agenda – Friday July 19, 2019

~6:00 AM Light Continental Breakfast, Rotary Campground
8:00 Leave Beaver Creek Park, Rotary Campground
8:30-9:45 Northern Ag Research Center (NARC)
Intro. to the Station
Cover Crop research – species, haying, grazing and economics
Crested wheatgrass renovation plots
9:45-11:15 School section 30 year-old exclosures
11:15-12:45 Travel to First Lake and Lunch

12:45-1:15 Travel to NARC’s Thackery Ranch
1:15-4:00 Research covering Residual Feed Intake, Supplementing Livestock on Dormant Grass, Grazing Distribution and Supplementation
4:00-4:30 Travel to Mooney Coulee
4:30-5:30 Grazing vs. No Grazing after 2017 East Fork Fire

After the tour, the buses will drop off attendees at the Rotary Campground. Dinner will not be provided Friday night, but grills will be available at the Rotary Campground. Attendees are encouraged to bring dinner to grill or enjoy, and join in on a bonfire and socializing!

Campground & Lodging Locations

Rotary Campground in Beaver Creek Park will be reserved from Thursday July 18 to Sunday July 21 for all guests to enjoy! The campground has no power or water, but has outhouse facilities, grills, fire pits, and a pavilion. For those not interested in camping, hotel accommodations can be found by following this link.

Optional Missouri River Day Float

An optional Missouri River day float will be available to those interested. The float will be Saturday July 20, departing Fort Benton at 9 AM, and wrapping up by 3PM. Seats are limited so please contact Kailee Calnan to reserve a spot at 406-390-0950. The fee for the day float is $50.

Summer Tour registration fee (no camping, includes breakfast & lunch): $25

Summer Tour & Camping (3 nights reserved) registration fee: $45

Optional Missouri River Float registration fee: $50

We encourage you to RSVP by June 15 to prepare for meals, RSVP is not required. To register for the summer tour, please follow the button below.
